Books to Help You Heal

As a pet lover and parent for over 45 years, I have truly experienced what it is like to love a beautiful animal and also experience their death. I cannot find any faults in our animal companions however if I had to chose one, it would be that their life span is not as long as ours. I know however, that there is a reason for that and am very grateful for the time I do have together with them. Each animal has become my friend, my furry child and my teacher. I hold much gratitude for their many blessings.

That is why I have written and published 3 books for adults and children on healing from the death of a beloved pet and advocates for people grieving through pet loss. If you are looking for support in this area, I sincerely invite you to check out these resources. I Miss My Furry Friend – My Feel Better Book With Kamilla and Magrau

Often times, we have pets in our lives before we have children. When children join our family, a transition takes place on everyone’s part; parents, pets and children. As the family grows together, children become attached to their furry brother or sister and with the sense of normalcy to have them in their lives. When a pet passes away, this may create a time of uncertainty for your child as they begin processing their first experience of death. Because you are trying to heal AND help your children as well, support is available and you are not alone.

Marybeth and Ventriloquist Kellie Haines have teamed together in providing a safe space in which to play, learn and most importantly heal from the death of a pet.  Join your child in healing with this interactive book and provide to them a structure of active mourning so they can heal in a supportive environment.

This book is best suited for children ages 4 – 12 years. In this book, your child will walk a journey with Kamilla the frog and Magrau the bird. Kamilla is 4 years old with red hair.  She used to play with her guinea pig named Sebastian and he died one year ago.  Magrau is a bird who is 12 years old. He shares how his white and furry cat named Kitty died and how sad, lonely and confused he felt. Your child will “walk” with Kamilla and Magrau in each page through interactive reading, drawing and colouring exercises, identifying their feelings and emotions while healing together.
